skam nl stats and what we can expect if there's a third season: a thread #saveskamnl #renewskamnl

(please keep in mind that i'm not a professional, some of the numbers may not be exact)

(04.13) the first season of skam nl has earned an average of 5,5m views for 64 clips (85.9k views by clip) on their youtube channel.

we should take into account that at that time, the videos were geoblocked, which means fans outside of the netherlands couldn't watch it and had to use a vpn or had to watch them somewhere else. that explains why the views are not that high.

(04.13) the second season of skam nl has earned an average of 12,5m views for 51 clips (245k by clip) on their youtube channel. which is way more!!

the reasons maybe be:

1. the second season is in general more famous.
2. the youtube channel took down the geoblock in the middle of the season. all the fans all over the world could watch the clips on the official youtube channel, which brought them more views.

here are the stats of skam nl (source: socialblade)
we can see that over these last 30 days, skam nl earned almost one million views (ten months after the last clip was posted!!)

this simply means that :

1. people are still interested by the show and come back to rewatch the clips over and over again
2. the show still gains new viewers every day

as said before, the third season is in general the most watched season of the show and the one that brings more fans. to prove that, let's look at the stats of two other remakes that had the opportunity to make their third season : skam france & wtfock

skamfr is hands down the most famous remake since the beginning. the show posts the clips on a youtube channel (france tv slash) which isn't geoblocked and on the official website only available in france. here we are gonna analyse the views on the youtube channel only

when the second season was airing they posted both the clips and the full episodes. i only took into account the stats of the full episodes because overall they had way more views than the clips. in total, the second season of skamfr has 9,5m views (± 11m with the clips)

when the third season started airing, they posted both clips and full episodes but they stopped posting the episodes after the third one. that's why i only counted the clips views.

the clips only have in total an average of 57,6m (with the episodes it should be around 60m). in other words, from s2 to s3, the views were multiplied by 6!!

we have to recognize that overall skamfr is way more popular than skam nl. that's why i chose to compare skam nl with an other remake that is similar to it in terms of popularity: wtfock.

the stats of wtfock are pretty unclear. the show posts the clips only on their official website that is also geoblocked (same as skam nl during its first season).

at the beginning of season 2 (begining of may 2019), it has been announced that the first season had an average of 2 millions views on the website, which is not a lot. in fact, wtfock was one of the less watched remake at that time.

concerning season 2, haven't found the stats but thanks to some data i found and if my math is exact, the views should have been around 8m views at the end of the season.

now let's look at the interesting part: season 3.
let's remind us that the website is still geoblocked, so technically the only people who can watch the clips are the people who live in belgium (unless if you use a vpn which is not very common tbh).

at the beginning of december, 3 weeks before the end of the season, it has been announced that the season had in total more than 10 millions views! which is a lot for a geoblocked season that wasn't finished yet.

now (04.14), 4 months after the season ended, there should be at least 12 millions views (please remember this may not be exact this only a theory). from season one to season three, the views were multiplied by 6 (just like skamfr)

numbers don't lie. the third season is in fact the most watched one and the one that attracts the most people. thanks to the skamfr and wtfock data, we could expect around 30 millions views for the third season if the youtube channel is not geoblocked. (s1 views multiplied by 6)

but imagine the amount of views the season would have if the show gets picked up by @NetflixNL, a well known streaming platform available everywhere in the world.... #saveskamnl #renewskamnl
