see i think that mayakuro revue would be the most likely revue to be animated in the movie retelling but i'd really like if it was the kurokaren one, personally. yes this is a thread
it's for narrative reasons than anything else? it's hard to pin down kuro as a character in the anime because she doesn't have an episode devoted to her. obv it's not the production's fault it wasn't in their control. but i don't think the mykr revue would serve that purpose well
karen is often the "blank slate" opponent of the revues, and this is deliberate—she grew up with only her promise with hikari in mind that she doesn't have any true ambition other than that. this isn't a bad thing, it lends very well to how her stage *is* hikari
what this means is that a lot of the revues we see (since karen is our pov character) has their stage only coincide thematically to karen's opponent and not it being a clash against the opponent and karen's visual imagery, a la the junhika revue
claudine and nana follow this pattern (which leads into something something lack of identity being a trait in floras but that's another topic) and it's the reason why the karenana stage was blank. let's be honest.
even if it *was* production issues, nana does not have a proper stage. the nanamaya loop revue didn't have one, the hikanana revue didn't have one (rather, it's a reaction to hikari's former stage—jeanne d'arc). therefore, the karenana revue would make sense to not have one.
now that we have the context aside, what i want to point out is that when someone (*cough* maya) isn't overriding her stage, claudine /does/ have visual imagery. its the castles in episode 8's, you guessed it, kurokaren revue
claudine having a sense of identity but it being often overwhelmed by another's stage (maya, junna, hikari, to name a few if you look closely) is interesting, y'know? it lends even more to the idea of claudine suppressing parts of herself to please the people she holds dear
but when that is not possible? when she's faced with an opponent so driven to their one goal that their entire identity surrounds and in some ways /is/ that goal? *that's* when claudine shines. *that's* when she is finally pushed to be who she really is
and that's why i want the kurokaren revue to be animated instead of the mayakuro one. instead of the situation being maya's stage being destroyed by claudine (because it *always* has to be about maya, somehow) it's... karen against claudine, in her rawest and most sincere form
