A thread on the worst to best Red Dead Redemption 2 characters (with credits to @coolstoryZo)
Micah Bell - The absolute worst. Does not care about anyone but himself and was definitely the devil on Dutch’s shoulder. Also kills dogs so he sucks.
Leopold Strauss - Preyed on desperate people knowing they would struggle to repay debt and would then send others to do his dirty work. The only good quality he had was that he was loyal right up until the end, but overall was still a shitty person.
Dutch van der Linde - Comes across as charming in the beginning but progressively got worse with his narcissistic behaviour. Would justify killing innocent people and had a serious god complex. Also - definitely did not have a plan.
Javier Escuella - Surprisingly likeable throughout the game and seemed a good friend as well as pretty chill, then decided to do a complete 180 and turn into a bit of an asshole towards the end. Style icon.
Marion “Bill” Williamson - In the beginning I felt sorry for Bill as he was always teased by the other gang members. I think that he had potential to be a good person but chose the wrong path. Stupid and easily led.
Molly O’Shea - Obsessed with staring at herself in the mirror all day, does absolutely fuck all to help contribute around the camp and told the most pointless lie ever. Comes from money so I can’t feel sorry for her.
Jack Marston - Always wondering off getting kidnapped or attacked by wild animals. Has the worst voice ever throughout both games (god knows why they cast an adult woman to voice child him) and grows up to completely miss the point of what Arthur and his father taught him.
Mary Beth - Would help around camp (usually after Grimshaw gives her a slap) The conversations she has with Arthur was sweet but she didn’t really have anything interesting about her.
Josiah Trelawny - Fashion icon, but should really spend more time with his family.
Reverend Swanson - Drunk or high 24/7 and would sing that same whiskey song in camp all day - NOT a fun or lovable drunk. Stashes drugs in a bible. Did help save John in the beginning and did kind of pull himself together eventually.
Karen Jones - Binge drinking tart with a heart, 7/10 acting skills on that one mission. Probably dead from alcohol poisoning.
Abigail Marston - Very annoying in the first red dead, but after playing the 2nd game I can completely understand why. I did like her and Arthur’s friendship but sometimes she was unnecessarily rude.
Lenny Summers - The mission where you get drunk together is probably everyone’s all time favourite. Even though he was only 19 years old he was more wise than some of the other gang members. An overall good person and I wish there was more missions with him.
Tilly Jackson - Would actually help out around the camp compared to the other girls. Was kind to others and forgiving to those who wronged her. Got the ending she deserved.
Sean Macguire - Felt like the gangs annoying but lovable little brother. Was the only gang member who would get away with saying certain things and wasn’t scared to say it how it is. Could piss Karen off just by looking her direction.
Kieran Duffy - Deserved much better, I regret antagonising him 24/7 in my first play through. Was always polite, helped out around the camp and cared for the horses.
Susan Grimshaw - The mother figure of the group, kept everyone in line and wouldn’t take shit off anyone. Wouldn’t hesitate to smack a bitch up. Deserves respect.
Pearson - Unproblematic king. Would make the whole camp food and craft items you give him to make the camp look better. His ending with the photo frame made me emotional 🥺
Uncle - CEO of Lumbago. Even though he was drunk or asleep the majority of the time he does step up eventually. Cares about those close to him and proves that he had a heart of gold in the first game.
Sadie Adler - One of my favourite characters, chaotic good energy at its finest. The kind of friend everyone wants. It would never happen but I would have loved a DLC with her.
Hosea Matthews - Should have been the gang leader not Dutch. Knew right from wrong and would actually listen to other people’s concerns as well as call Dutch out on things. The wisest out of everyone.
John Marston - The OG, was very whiny/gloomy in the beginning (as well as a crappy father) but eventually grew to be a great man protecting his family and friends. Not the best sketch artist.
Charles Smith - Had the best values and risked his life on many occasions to protect those around him that he cared for. His loyalty was on a whole other level.
And the last being Arthur Morgan. When I first heard RD2 was making a new protagonist I was worried I wouldn’t take to them, but Arthur turned out to be one of my favourite R* characters with the best story arc (depending on the choices you make) 10/10
