Harry Potter question…where tf do magical folx stash their wands when they aren't using them? You never see holsters or special pockets or magical means to store them off-duty & it's NEVER mentioned. The kids seem to stuff them down their pants?! Seems wildly inefficient to me.
Also, good morning…I haven’t slept.
Like, where do u keep a magical object that functions both as an essential tool for everyday tasks AND a weapon? Ntm it's the ONLY one u have (more on That later). Where do u put it when u sleep? Are they like glasses & u just put them anywhere when not in use? It drives me nuts.
Why can’t magical folx have more than 1 wand in the wizarding world? Why not have a collection of wands for diff uses/occasions—or at least a spare for emergencies? Having only 1 essential tool/weapon in ur possession u then casually keep in ur pants when not using seems…risky.
I guess, visually speaking, they decided against holsters in the films bc it read to much like a firearm. In the books, they're all supposed to be wearing robes all the time, so I guess the assumption is that there are special pockets. But again, it's never addressed.
In my headcanon, I choose hip holsters but design them not to invoke the comparison to firearms. Maybe belt loops? It would please to have a small scene where someone sits only to jump up again with a yelp bc they poked themselves with their wand. It HAS to happen sometimes.
Maybe a back holster like an archer’s quiver? I like that. Whipping out a wand from behind ur back, over ur head, in one fluid motion would be wonderfully dramatic. I'll have to draw it out & decide what looks best. It bothers me so much. FIGURE IT OUT, witches! I need solutions.
I made the mistake of scrolling thru tweets & got depressed again…so let's talk more about wands.
Seriously, why can't magical folx have a stash instead of just 1 wand? It's impractical af. I get the bond between a wiz/itch & their wand but we know u can create it with another.

Also, what even IS the wand business & how does it stay afloat when every wiz/itch has Only One in their possession at any time AND often keeps the same wand they got As Children for their Entire Life. Madness. What's a wandmaker to do? No wonder Ollivander was cranky & weird.
Back to holsters…or lack thereof…in a world where wands are THIS precious (only 1 per customer), expensive (Ron had a hand-me-down & when it split the Weasley's couldn't afford another), & rare (wand-chooses-the-wizard wise), keeping in ur back pocket makes even less sense.
Side note: Hogwarts not having a spare wand stash for emergencies let alone some kind of grant funds to replace broken wands for students who can’t afford a replacement is total BULLSHAT and I’m appalled at the lack of community & institutional care for these kids.
There’s stock brooms for students but not spare wands? The One Thing they absolutely cannot do magic without (at least curriculum magic)? Nonsensical. Again, we KNOW they can use other wands in a pinch (esp when won from another) so there should be a sharing culture established.
I've thought abt this a lot.
No one cares but me.
I feel like Hermione and her SPEW campaign. (Wand culture must change! Justice for Ron! The wand chooses the wizard, but only the wizard can choose wand policy!)

Ollivander should've had a Buy One Get One Give One sale in the weeks before the new school year. 1 for you at full price, 1 for emergencies or special spells at a discount, & 1 to give to a needy kid for free. There’s GOTTA be Basic Witch style wands anyone can bond with & use.
More on wands…no I’m not done…this thread is my opus…
Wand repair/recycling: if wands are this hard to come by, shouldn't there be a way to fix em? Can cores remain undamaged when the wood breaks? If so, why can’t they salvage a core & make a new wooden sheath?
