I was in a bike accident 4 weeks ago when someone opened their door without looking behind. I've been in PT since and have been laid off in the interim. With COBRA, I can continue my existing treatment but my monthly healthcare premiums have more than doubled.
This doesn't include my co-pays. I get that COBRA doesn't cover everyone but I feel like having the government cover COBRA costs would be a quick and easy and way to ensure a lot of newly unemployed people don't have to worry about ending their treatment.
Or trying to find a new doctor. Once I find a new job, I'll probably buy on the exchange or use my new employer plan. But when your health insurance coverage ends on March 31 and you have an appointment on April 1, I don want to have to worry about finding a new doctor.
Great @voxdotcom write-up of the Democrat's plan to cover COBRA costs 100%.
And look behind you before you open your car door please!
