#THREAD

Ahem. Good morning.

You are now about to witness the strength of street knowledge.

This morning at 8:30 a.m. RESIDENTS of the City of Los Angeles whose earnings have fallen during the #coronavirus pandemic can apply for prepaid debit cards called Angeleno Cards.
Angeleno Cards will provide eligible residents with $700, $1,100 or $1,500 if they have incomes below the federal poverty line prior to the Safer at Home orders or if they've fallen into "deeper hardship" from reduced work hours or income being cut by at least 50%.
THIS IS NOT A LOAN. THIS IS NOT YOUR FEDERAL STIMULUS CHECK.
You can apply for the debit cards at http://hcidla.lacity.org  or by
calling (213) 252-3040 starting at 8:30 a.m. The application deadline is 4:30 p.m. Thursday. You can only apply Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. ONLY.
I have seen many people on social media asking where is the City of Los Angeles. 😐

If you live in a city that is not Los Angeles--Compton, South Gate, Long Beach, Lynwood, etc.--YOU DO NOT LIVE IN THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES.
If you do not know whether you live in the City of Los Angeles or are under the County of Los Angeles, start here before you even apply: https://neighborhoodinfo.lacity.org/ . If you enter an intersection or address and it says "Nothing Found" YOU DO NOT LIVE IN THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES.
Those who pre-qualify based on their online or telephone applications will be given an in-person appointment at a designated community center. These centers cannot help anyone without an appointment.
You will be asked to provide documentation at this in person meeting, and you may be able to upload pictures or digital copies of documentation in advance.
Due to limited resources, if the number of qualified individuals exceeds the number of available Angeleno Cards grants, the City of Los Angeles Housing and Community Investment Department will randomly select among the qualified individuals to receive the Angeleno Card grants.
I am sure that there will be an overwhelming response to these debit cards and we need to hold the May accountable. Age, race, neighborhood location is critical to ensuring that this was an EQUAL and EQUITABLE opportunity for all Los Angeles residents.
With that said, may the odds be ever in your favor.
