That's good cause:
Less excitement reading it, means no sadness when nothing happens, means even more excited when the update drops if I didn't forget about it by then

Then it's a sad update like 90% of all updates
Than you wait for another month
When you remember you read that fic after a month and reread it before reading the new update and all the emotions hit at once
