Late to the Party: A Thread - noticed the fantastic positivity thread kicked off by @jeenonamit yesterday but did not circle back to it because a) work and b)always afraid of hurting feelings by leaving out someone I love! So here is my comprehensive effort:
[GAH! This is hard. The more I write, the more certain I am I have missed someone whose words or actions made my world a better place! I honestly don't know other fandoms, but I kind of don't want to? This little ecosystem thrives because of every one of the great people in it.]
[If you are reading this, chances are YOU are one of those great people. And I am really grateful for you and the community you are creating!]
First honors to @FlowersOfCarrot, the first person to make me feel at home as a Reylo by gushing about and tirelessly promoting one of my first stories. Turns out, she's as fantastically creative and funny IRL as she is online, and also has one of the biggest hearts anywhere.
Followed quickly by @flypaper_brain, whose ability to feel AND articulate her feelings is truly unsurpassed. It makes her a great beta and an even greater friend. I am in awe when I think she makes her awesomeness available to so many writers AND her family, every damn day.
To @persimonne666, who is one of the first authors I fell in love with, and definitely the first who I looked up to and then got to know as a human. She is boundlessly talented, lovely inside and out, and has incredible integrity. I want to be like her when I grow up.
@thisgarbagepic1: Some day I will write an entire essay about your body of work. But today I just want to highlight how genuine, encouraging and sharply insightful you are. Little notes on what my story made you think about months later? What more could a writer ask for?
All the love to @villaintheblank, whose warmth never falters. She writes so beautifully of love and friendship and support because it is what she knows and practices every day. (No comment on where the great smut is coming from.)
Thank you to @MsCoppelia, for her sense of humor, great (crazy? unabashedly) ideas, and fierce loyalty to her friends. It is so fun to watch her sharpen her pen and push expectations around like so many pawns on a chessboard.
@AlbaStarGazer Who I really miss right now. Her kindness and enthusiastic words had a real, material impact on my own well-being last summer. Sending you so much love.
Three (or 9, or 27) cheers for @mamaducktweets. I've never been sure if the way I think of you has been shaped by your pen names, or if you really are just a perfect Mama Duck - supportive, strong, always leading by example, with tremendous affection for your fandom ducklings.
Of course, @apisa_b! Who was another one of my firsts - the first person who inspired me to write something goofy and the only person I've turned into an OC. All because she shares herself so generously and never hesitates to connect and offer support.
@trailingviolets and @saint_heretical, who feel like women you would seek out at parties. They would doubtless have something fascinating to talk about and you would be confident in their welcome. You'd have to push aside your awe at their talent, first, but it would be worth it.
@rlogarbagech1 gets a special shout-out for their generosity during a hard week for me. SO MUCH TALENT - lovely, clever writing and great ideas ( #reylomicrofic!) and genuine kindness.
Next to last tweet: to every single Author!Mom who has ever mentioned their kids in a tweet or note on a fic - thank you. It's been hard to carve out time to think/write in the midst of all of this, and knowing I'm not the only one solving for this helps so much.
And LAST tweet, to @jeenonamit, for being the one to blame for this and so many other positive, supportive (smutty, angsty, wacky, inspired) actions and words. Many thanks for your leadership.
