like, yes, you managed to keep control for now, but you've lost 2-3 generations of supporters. Either by making them give up on politics, or making them occasionally vote for you to mitigate harm, but ultimately have no loyalty or fondness for you. so, uh, what next

I have heard things that would have been incredibly fringe opinions five years ago coming from people who are not at all on the fringe. I'm not sure the DNC understands how radicalized, alienated, and hostile they have made younger left-of-center voters.
