See, now this would make a lot of pieces fall into place. Although, it would also raise several new questions... Dunno, something feels right about it though.
The new footnotes aren’t about Russian disinformation making its way into the dossier - they are about how the FBI completely ignored red flags. E.g., if Steele claimed Person 1 was former KGB AND claimed Person 1 was a credible source...well, seems like FISC should be informed?
Another example of “ignoring red flags” theme of the footnotes - the more I look at this footnote, it appears to be validation reports from FBI’s CHS Validation Management Unit (or something similar). Validation Manual is highly redacted, but quarterly/annual CHS rpts are reqs.
So Crossfire team receives these standard reports, but ignores the findings and doesn’t inform FISC during renewals. Remember, this IG Report is abt X-Fire team handling of FISA apps, not the underlying investigation itself. Would align w IG initiating review of CHS policies too.
