Here goes... As some people may know and maybe many don't, April is officially World Autism Awareness Month, and this is something relatable to me. I would like to talk about parts of my life as an autistic person and how it affects me.

Most days I seem fine and confident... (1)
... but in reality, it is never the same. Having autism affects my day-to-day life, including maybe the most basic tasks, it is mostly a struggle. I was bullied for being autistic and having a huge lack of confidence in school subjects, and those bullies knocked me down... (2)
... but I never let that get the better of me, and after contemplating my future many times, I am currently waiting to go into third year at university.
Having autism is a lifelong asset that I have to deal with and can't help. (3)
... The areas that affect me the most tend to be social situations including (but not limited to) meeting new people, socialising with the family and also being in a relationship, which I'm currently not in one as of this post, because I feel my autism holds me back heavily.. (4)
... and I feel like I am that awkward person who is bad at conversation starters and creating awkward tension, and also being scared of accidentally saying the wrong thing.
I see many people happily in a relationship, and loving life and fulfilling dreams together... (5)
... I imagine that to happen to me one day, but again, I have to argue with the barrier called autism.

Being autistic doesn't immediately rule me out of everyday life, in fact, I try to be adventurous and want to try new things, but most days, autism gets the better of me... (6)
... I am autistic and proud of it!

So here's a photo of me in natural form with no filter, no Photoshop, just one natural photo of me being me. It's time for people to not be so judgmental when they see an awkward, shy, quiet person when out and about... (7)
... because you don't know what hidden disability they may have.

Time to raise awareness for World Autistic Awareness Month, if you know someone who is autistic, or if you suffer from autism yourself, post a natural photo of yourself, with no filter and #raiseawarenessforautism
