I'm so tired of 99% of stories/comments about #Covid19 focusing on decisions we can't change and I wanted to highlight what has/could be done & hopefully inspire people to be part of #COVID19Solutions, not 'gotcha moments'. This is an emergency! We must unite to get through it!
There's a worldwide shortage of #PPE & back orders a plenty, including a gap in raw materials. However, 3D printers offer an incredible opportunity to do something to help, even if it's just to print components. This site has FREE 3D opensource designs.
https://cults3d.com/en/collections/useful-3d-printed-coronavirus-covid19-tool
This website has a similar focus but includes a forum for those wanting to get involved, or medical professionals/organisations wanting help! These groups are springing up worldwide & if you can't print, perhaps you can organise/fund 3D printing solutions? https://www.3dprintingmedia.network/3d-printing-unite-for-covid-19/
But perhaps you can't 3D print but can sew? This design (created by Joost De Cock) has something that you can make! The site includes a pattern, instructions and even a video on how it's made! #PPE #COVID19 https://freesewing.org/blog/facemask-frenzy
Industry is on the front line of solutions, eg- @Jaguar is printing #PPE & @Dyson are making ventilators but there are companies who recycle & clean #PPE, eg- http://staysafesolutions.co.uk . They must be part of the fight & we must encourage their engagement & highlight what they can do!
Your local council might also be offering support. @CityofYork council, UK has a registration service for volunteers who want to support local people, who may not get enough/the correct support. Check your local council for that info & pass it on/help! https://www.york.gov.uk/COVIDVolunteering
@Facebook is a great place to find/offer to help with #COVID19 too. You can join groups, start them if there isn't one, or pass on a vulnerable persons details (to registered people) and ensure they get support. For example, this group is in #NewYork, US.

Perhaps you own a business with spare #PPE or other useful #COVID19 items, eg-mobile offices which can used for testing/treatment, or gloves. This UK site allows you to donate them, or call your local hospital trust (in UK), or hospital/group. http://www.contractorsappeal.com/
The UK Government also has a website, where you can donate items but there's no harm in calling your local #NHS trust & asking them directly, whether they need any specific support.
https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus-support-from-business

In the UK, search NHS services by postcode, here.

The @EU_Commission EU did the same and has a page detailing some of those European responses, in a Q&A. Their waiver covers from 1 March 2020 until 30 June 2020, and can be extended if necessary. https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/QANDA_20_458
There are a number of other challenges that we must identify. Therefore the focus must be on reporting them, not gotcha moments because the Govt hasn't understood them. Eg-knowing the number of #COVID19 non-hospital deaths, allows more tailored support to be explored & promoted.
Tailored support is for the public health too. Stories of low oxygen pressure in hospitals haven't asked for #COVID19Solutions, they've identified problems. This leaves NO ROOM for a 'call to arms' on specific Trust issues, yet doing so WILL save lives! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-52187826
Many have put the focus squarely on their Govt & it's an easy win if there are daily briefings but raising specific, eg- #NHS Trust/hospital challenges (not failures), helps us find #COVID19Solutions! Isn't that more important? Solving one hospitals problem may also solve another!
We cannot limit solutions to health. The economy is in trouble & we must ensure we have jobs to come back to! Many Govt's have done great things but what's been missed? How can we ensure support is working? Eg-are business loans accessible? If not, why not? What's the solution?
Eg-In UK, we've seen banks not lend Govt backed business loans on reasons of eg-non consolidation, THEIR eligibility criteria, main bank only lending, If this nuance gets highlighted, the good banks will prosper & bad ones will reform. Highlighting solutions will save businesses!
This tweet sent to me by @ClarityProp highlights how Germany has lent money. The question to our UK Govt from the media should be, 'this is how Germany is lending, what are the barriers stopping us from doing something similar? Why wouldn't we?' #COVID19 https://twitter.com/ClarityProp/status/1248589330710396928?s=20
This would help build a solution based narrative and allow a follow up conversation to be had, once again around #Covid19Solutions. Businesses, lenders & the Govt could be part of that debate & reform would happen more quickly! With thousands of jobs and businesses saved!
International comparisons are healthy as they focus on whether solutions/strategies have worked & why. They're not just an opportunity to say, 'why didn't you do this!?' Evidence must be shared & updated, with change encouraged/recognised. Then, we move on to the next challenge!
This is doubly important because journalists are often not statisticians, or modelling experts but there are those out there who are & want to help! The more modelling we have, share & treat as informative (not conclusive), the more we can add.

Mainstream, independent & social media can drive #COVID19Solutions.
There'll be plenty of time to highlight failure AFTER we get through this & we CANNOT waste time not highlighting challenges & promoting/asking for solutions.
We all have a platform, some great, some small but if you're not using it to identify challenges & promote achievable #COVID19Solutions/encourage others to help, you may be part of the problem!

Fanning the #COVID19 flames wont save enough lives, it's time we helped put them out.
If you have any ideas/solutions/helpful thoughts, please respond to this thread/posts (or start your own) & I'll retweet/like them.

In @Twitter, we have a fantastic platform to progress ideas & reach problem solvers. Now is absolutely the time to do that! #COVID19
Check out this brilliant idea, a village larder in a phone box! Remember to wash/alcogel those hands! https://twitter.com/jameshacon/status/1249628873223999488?s=20
