If an odyssey is a long journey with many changes of fortune along the way, then this election year has met the criteria. Yes, there are months to go and much can change, but COVID-19 has reinvigorated campaign themes. First equity and equality are not the same...
Second, wealth versus health, is not only a subset of the difference in equity and equality, but has elevated healthcare as a basic “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” human right. Call it an upgrade to Declaration of Independence v 1.0.
Third, in this odyssey we have witnessed themes in the qualities of leadership that possibly never been displayed before in this quanity or manner. The absurd amount of lies, ineptitude and control through chaos versus organization, empathy and vision.
One quality of leadership that democrats are seemingly open with, and republicans are in denial about, is knowing one’s limitations. Self-assessing/evaluating what you know, don’t know, need to know, and what to learn every democratic candidate has shared...
While Trump, in literature known as Sauron, never takes responsibility for failure or ineptitude.

So, the odyssey continues. Democrats must take this time to forge a new Declaration of Independence from powerful interest groups that threaten the republic. We are at a nexus.
