You know what. In a way, I’m glad you’re safe. Safe enough to carelessly & ignorantly use this virus in your CB name. That in all the corners of the Earth this horrible thing is going on, you manage to be viewing on the sidelines. https://twitter.com/miriataite/status/1249842380993212416
I’m glad you don’t know what it’s like to be dying, drowning in your own body, alone in the ICU — because hospitals have a zero visitor policy going on.

That you’ll never know what it’s like to FaceTime someone in their last moments.

Or that some don’t even get that chance.
I’m glad you don’t feel the overwhelming anxiety, hopelessness & grief associated with 14, 16-hour shifts. Going day in and day out not knowing what will come or how to deal with some patients because in some cases there might not be anything you could do for them.
I’m glad you’re not living in constant fear of managing to contract the virus yourself, or god forbid, spreading it to your loved ones at home because your staff had to start rationing the masks & gowns because the stock is really getting that low.
Glad that you don’t have to worry about “where am I going to live next?” Because you just got laid off and while the chaos is going on your landlord is saying something along the lines of “we’re sorry this is happening, remember you can pay rent online. Take care!”
There’s thousands of other stories I can list but this would go on for hours. Anyways, I’m glad you’re safe at home.
To clarify since I wrote this before passing out: but If I sound a little miffed here, it’s because I am. 😂

I’m not in direct contact with Covid patients (knock on wood)? But plenty of my coworkers back in NJ/NY are. & I read their stories every day.
This thread wasn’t written to instill guilt. I just wanted to mention just a sliver of the situation(s) me, my coworkers, and several others are currently going through.

I don’t ask for praise. I just ask that you spare a thought for the ones affected, be mindful.
