Fabian Ruiz [A Thread] #TFscout
Fabian Ruiz has been a pivotal midfielder for Napoli throughout the last few seasons catching the eyes of many clubs. With the chances of him making a big-money move soon. In this thread, we will be analysing his physical makeup, his vision and his technical qualities.
Watching Fabián on the ball, you may think he is the classic Spanish midfielder similar to the likes of Xavi or Iniesta. While this is true, he also displays remarkable physical qualities allowing him to succeed in the era where aerobic capacity is prioritised.
Fabian is 6ft 2 and has a sturdy frame. This is employed by him in both aspects of the game, shielding the ball in attack or to recovering it in defence. His shielding of the ball increases press resistance and prevents teams from shutting down Fabian using physical contact.
His most impressive asset is his aerobic capacity. Fabian runs 11.3km per90 placing him in the top 10 in Serie A. This ensures that he can contribute in all aspects of play and lets him compete in an era where midfielder’s running capacity is prioritised in the recruitment.
Overall Fabian was blessed with elite genetics enabling him to not only thrive in the modern era but outshine his peers due to technical superiority.
However, Fabian's main asset is his supreme technical ability which he uses to progress the ball using his dribbling skills and passing range which is conveyed in this graph I created. As you can see, Fabián excels in both departments showing his versatility.
This allows him to be deployed in several positions and tactical roles as well as making him harder to shut down.

In terms of his technique, his passes are hit with spin to increase aero dynamism, and he sets up his body well to make the pass one swift action. He is aggressive on the ball leading the Serie A in forwarding passes and is excellent in transitions.
