Controversial opinion seeing as its my job but I think the heavy reliance on a shitload of concept art is ruining visual design in movies.
Its hard to express why i feel this way on twitter but I'll try.

Firstly a lot of stuff feels overly designed. Everything has perfect ratios/balance etc. As a result nothing feels natural
I think function always gets thrust to the front at the expense of expression. This line of thinking is VITAL for real life products but in entertainment the main purpose is to serve the story etc. Purely functional thinking just takes you down the NASA route every time
I'm also not slamming concept artists to be clear!
