Um ok here’s a simple question. If you don’t know how the lgbtq+ community is treated in China (clue: absolute and utter HORSESHIT) then what exactly gives you the right to speak up about the way those issues are handled by Chinese authors?

It’s a privilege in itself to be able to include lgbtq+ representation. Please don’t forget this. You are not the saint you think you are by yelling at people who don’t have the same exposure; not everyone is as lucky as we are to show this kind of pride in our identities.

Many people in China think the lgbt community is a lot smaller than it is. Given the nature of censorship in china, you’d be hard pressed to do research on it, not to mention no one knows mxtx’s sexuality BECAUSE it’s dangerous to reveal that kind of stuff to the public.

it’s very likely mxtx doesn’t have as much exposure to the community at all, because VERY FEW PEOPLE IN CHINA DO. it’s called ‘living under a government that doesn’t allow for free speech or open access to the internet’
