A thread: To provide information to backup what Selena has been saying about her health all these years.
There’s several haters out there claiming to have proof that Selena is a drug addict/alcoholic. I’m here to provide information to prove that what Selena has said about her health in the public can be backed with factual evidence.
In 2014, it was reported that Selena entered herself into a rehab facility called Meadows in AZ due to her lupus diagnosis. A hate page claimed this was not true due to the facility specializing in substance abuse problems. What they fail to mention was it’s other uses.
If you actually look up the symptoms of lupus, you’ll come to find how common mental issues are after being diagnosed, so when Selena claimed it was due to her lupus diagnosis/treatment that she went for treatment, she was right.
Of course this hate page will distract u from what the facility was used for by saying chemotherapy doesn’t happen there. Selena never said she had chemo there, but she has talked about being diagnosed and “locking herself away” until she was “comfortable” and “confident” again.
Come to find out chemotherapy can also cause mental health problems, so her statement still holds true. This then just shows she went to get treatment for her mental health issues while getting chemotherapy to treat her Lupus.
And for those of you wondering about the use of chemotherapy, yes it can be used to treat lupus as well.
Let’s not leave out the part where it was questioned how Selena suddenly announced she had lupus without showing obvious lupus symptoms. The following can provide an answer along with a statement she recently made.
In 2016, Selena claimed to had checked into rehab for depression & anxiety. People find this as a surprise & think there’s gotta be something else but don’t realize that having a chronic disease like lupus also means having an ongoing battle with mental health issues. SLE=Lupus
In the summer of 2017, Selena announced that she had a kidney transplant. People found that surprising and wanted to link it to substance abuse, but fail to note that this too can happen with lupus.
To better understand lupus related kidney disease & high blood pressure, I’ve added the following. In a nut shell, lupus can cause kidney damage, which can cause high blood pressure, which can cause more kidney damage, which can result in needing a new kidney, like Selena’s case.
And to answer why she keeps saying she could have had a stroke.
During 2018, Selena had been hospitalized twice in one month in Cedars Senai due to a low white blood cell count. The following can provide how lupus and the use of her medications for treatment can explain this visit.
Following Cedars Senai, in the same year she was admitted into a phychiatric hospital. It’s no surprise when dealing with a chronic disease like lupus that it can cause trauma. Selena has praised DBT several times to help with this along with her struggle in the spotlight.
When having mental health issues, meds are commonly prescribed when seeking treatment. Selena has claimed to be on meds and to no surprise, this too comes with side effects. This can help explain any balance coordination issues, speech issues, and memory problems.
Not to mention, the most common problem with one of the main treatments of lupus, corticosteroids, is a fluctuation in weight. This explains her dramatic up and down in weight and with the public chastising her for it, what do you think that does to her mental health?
& then this. Why would a friend of hers & a transplant doctor spare a kidney on someone that is an “alcoholic?” We’re talking about a scarce organ that with any OVERUSE of drugs/alcohol can instantly fail and be fatal. Usually those recipients aren’t even considered for surgery.
And yes, Selena did declare to be diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Seems like that makes her part of the 36% of the lupus population that show signs of bipolar disorder after being diagnosed with lupus.
All in all, people should think twice about what these hate websites are saying. With enough education, you’ll start to realize how ethically wrong it is to jump to conclusions and try to ruin someone’s reputation with misleading information.
I’m adding to the thread in regards to Selena’s shaky hands (tremors). With careful research based on her publicly stated medical & mental diagnosis, there are obvious factors that can cause this. Lets define tremors first.
Now that we understand tremors, let’s delve into what can cause tremors. Lupus has been the culprit in many of Selena’s problems. For her these problems include mental health problems and a kidney transplant as previously mentioned in this thread. (See above for details)
First let’s talk about mental health. With a diagnosis, mental health patients are usually prescribed one or more medications for treatment. Usually it takes trial and error before finding the right one and Selena makes that clear in an interview.
I myself have dealt with high blood pressure so I know how trial and error works. For every medication you try, you deal with a set of similar or different side effects. Some meds work for your body & others don’t and when one does, you don’t necessarily avoid side effects.
Side effects that come with mental health medications, particularly those that treat depression, actually has tremors as a side effect. If she’s particularly taking meds for her bipolar disorder, these would be called mood stabilizers and these too can cause tremors.
Now secondly, there’s her kidney transplant. If you didn’t know, after having a kidney transplant, you are required to be on medications called immunosuppressants to prevent the organ from being rejected by the body.
Of the medications you have to take after having a kidney transplant (listed below) tacrolimis is listed which is a commonly used immunosuppressant for transplants. Guess what one of the side effects are of this drug? That’s right, tremors.
Overall, knowing what she’s stated as far as what she’s gone through & what’s she’s been diagnosed with, it’s safe to say with enough research that she’s not dealing with something small. Please don’t underplay her health and believe sources that try to do more harm than good.
