The #RubyPrincess is a calamitous debacle that has had real, horrendous impacts on the public health of all Australians.

The one boat Scott Morrison didn’t stop is now shutting down our hospitals – and he’s trying to pretend like it’s not a problem.

A thread 🧵👇
Over the long weekend, Tasmania closed two hospitals in the North West because of a coronavirus outbreak.

More than 60 cases of COVID-19 have been linked to the outbreak, including at least 45 medical workers and 9 patients.
Let's not forget what @ScottMorrisonMP said on 15 March... four days *before* the #RubyPrincess docked in Sydney.

"The Australian Government will also ban cruise ships from foreign ports from arriving at Australian ports"

A passenger on the #RubyPrincess, was the North West Regional Hospital’s first COVID-19 case. Tragically they, along with another cruise passenger, account for two of the COVID-19 deaths in Tasmania.

They are also the strongest leads to the outbreak shutting down the North West.
Today, @ScottMorrisonMP was asked about the #RubyPrincess on the @TheTodayShow by @karlstefanovic.

His response?

“We can't allow ourselves to get bogged down” 🙄
On @sunriseon7, a similar #RubyPrincess question from @kochie_online and a similar response… 🤨
And tonight on @SBSNews with @BrettMasonNews... more #RubyPrincess responsibility dodging 😑
The PM has tried to blame the NSW State Govt for the #RubyPrincess failure & now he’s trying to act like there’s nothing to see here.

Meanwhile @PeterDutton_MP, the man responsible for 🇦🇺’s borders, remains silent despite being released from his 25 day quarantine last Thursday.
Worse still, the #RubyPrincess ship itself isn’t going away any time soon.

It is docked in Port Kembla with many crew members infected with COVID-19 and the full extent yet to be known.

The Govt must put in place a plan for these crew members now. https://twitter.com/9NewsSyd/status/1249582257532276737
Failure by the Govt to enact a plan for cruise ships in Australian waters risk the crews on these vessels overwhelming our state health systems and potentially spreading coronavirus in Australia.

More on that from @CatherineKingMP, @SenCarolBrown and me yesterday 👇
Despite what PM @ScottMorrisonMP says – or what @PeterDutton_MP won’t say – the #RubyPrincess catastrophe isn't going to go away.

The growing list of questions about the one boat Scott Morrison didn’t stop, and spread coronavirus across the country from it, cannot go unanswered.
