Whilst COVID-19 has created new needs (the isolation economy) and appears to have accelerated industrialisation in some areas, the changes to the Pharma industry - https://twitter.com/SCMPNews/status/1250001695389749254 - would have happened anyway.
... the acceleration is through attitude i.e. the four factors needed to industrialise a space are concept, suitability, technology and attitude. Often lack of attitude (driven by inertia) slows the change i.e. "it's a relationship business", "no-one will do this online" etc.
COVID-19 is in that sense a forcing function, changes which have built up but been resisted are now rapidly occurring. Even the "Theatre" is going online and here's the thing ... most of these changes tend to not go back because new needs are met.
It also creates knock on effects i.e. the forcing function enables industrialisation which enables new practices which enable new forms of organisation. This all enables further industrialisation of other spaces.
Anyway, I'll be covering this in my new research project - the ways and means of industrialisation - https://leadingedgeforum.com/research/the-ways-means-of-industrialization/

BTW. There will be an online session coming up for this, if people are interested. I will also be looking for volunteers for those research groups. DM me.
