One thing I notice from every post mortem discussion about the Bernie campaign is how once again everyone from mainstream cornball pundits to the nihilist socialist podcasters are completely ignoring the fucking latino voters lol. imo its THE story of the campaign.
Look at these splits whenever there were counties with a greater & of latinos. Sanders was crushing with us. the socialists on twitter that annoy everyone were just a fun smokescreen for the media to beat up on while they suppressed these voices specifically.
even in Iowa where there were not a ton of latinos, but look at how much bernie crushed in the 32 high density latino caucus locations. a lot is being said about young people voting for bernie in high numbers but if not for latinos, bernie doesnt win the states he did.
this is from california. of course just among latino voters age 45 and under he won with something like 70 percent of the vote. its an absolute joke the way this has been and continues to be covered by ALL media.
And this is all extra impressive iven that this was accomplished despite rampant voter suppression for latinos in most of those states, but particularly the southwest and Arizona where Latinos have to deal with brutal oppression from state governments.
so yeah, shout out to tio bernie, he fucking crushed it. everyone bitching that the socialist movement is dead and gone away has to reconcile with the fact that the latino uprising is only just beginning, not a fad. the sanders campaign was just the first flexing of that muscle.
its important to acknowledge latinos backed the ideas not just Bernie. He didnt personally register voters, knock on doors, etc. There were so many activist groups and organizers that fought so hard and made such a huge difference. itll take more than this to kill that spirit
it wasn't enough to win this time, we needed more allies and better liberals. This is why, deep in my bones, I despise these fraudulent fucks who will talk about "kids in cages" and support biden. you cant bemoan the butchers without acknowledging who built the slaughterhouse.
the reasons why latinos voted so heavily for bernie are worth examining anyways. personally, i think its because they are the most uninsured populace in the us. that theres a very impenetrable and low ceiling preventing upward mobility because of education. and the labor stuff.
oh and because bernie didnt deport like 3 million latino immigrants lmao. worthy of discussion. but instead most of the conversation is dominated by if Bernie bros were nice enough or where the socialist movement "goes from here." meanwhile latinos know the struggle continues
the struggle continues, but the fire rises. comics teaches us of a great latino revolutionary who will one day break the back of capitalist scum.
