Today the @SpringerPsych International Journal of Bullying Prevention is reflecting on three of its published articles about the successful @KivaSchool (KiVa) Anti- #Bullying intervention. And how its beneficial for the wider society:
Gaffney, Farrington & Ttofi (2019) stated that KiVa has been widely disseminated and evaluated among many samples and contexts. In their meta analysis, KiVa was shown to be effective in reducing school #bullying perpetration and victimisation: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s42380-019-0007-4">https://link.springer.com/article/1...
When implementing an anti- #bullying intervention like KiVa into a school there are many considerations such as the bullying rate (Gaffney et al., 2019). However, often overlooked, are the financial costs at which a school should consider when implementing KiVa.
The school financial cost-benefit of implementing KiVa was detailed by Huitsing, Barends & Lokkerbol (2019) showed how school costs can implicate how KiVa operates and works as an effective intervention: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s42380-019-00030-w">https://link.springer.com/article/1...
Huitsing et al. (2019) recommended that since the KiVa programme was beneficial to the wider society as a whole, governmental investment could supplement this cost so that schools have more money for other resources.
Green, Woods, Wegerhoff, Harcourt & Tannahil (2019) evaluated KiVa in New Zealand in another study published in the @SpringerPsych International Journal for Bullying Prevention: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s42380-019-00034-6">https://link.springer.com/article/1...
KiVa demonstrated lower bullying victim and perpetration rates in NZ. Children felt safer in school. Green et al& #39;s (2019) research supported the implementation of KiVa into the school curriculum as a societal benefit for New Zealand society as a whole.
In conclusion, the KiVa programme is beneficial as an anti- #bullying intervention in schools and in the wider society. The @SpringerPsych International Journal of Bullying Prevention is proud to host such studies that demonstrate such a societal good.
