Yesterday, @brittlepaper, one of the literary platforms that I love and hold high, published a short report about the novelist @hadizel El Rufai and her uncouth comments attempting to defend her son& #39;s threat to gang rape a mother https://otosirieze.com/a-statement/ ">https://otosirieze.com/a-stateme...
That post was shared on Twitter, I read it and became aware for the first time of the saga and shared it, expressing my outrage. Shortly afterwards, the post was deleted. Everyone was insane. I was dissapointed in Brittle Paper...
...as was many other people around the world, especially lovers of literature and writers. Many people called out one of the editors, @Otosirieze but @brittlepaper quickly issued a statement citing editorial policy, which we thought was an afterthought...
Today @Otosirieze has made a post on his personal blog, stating his position regarding what @B_ELRUFAI & his mum, @hadizel did, thereby disassociating himself from the action of Brittle Paper yesterday.

I want to say that my mind is now at rest. I have known @Otosirieze for some time now and followed his writings and social media activism, and had felt ashamed that he deleted the post. I now know that possibly, the decision to pull down the post was beyond his control.
By issuing a personal statement, he has distanced himself from the action of his employer, Brittle Paper and when this issue in its entirety is revisited in the near future, he will be counted as one of those who stood against injustice, rape and hypocrisy.
