Currently we are not allowed to give results directly to patients. Our results go to the medical teams for review.

Our interpretations are taken into consideration. But it is the doctor and the entire clinical presentation that dictates treatment.

The role of medical scientists will change.

England are creating reporting roles for #medicalscientists which i do hope Ireland decide to follow for appropriate disciplines.

There is a reason for this.
We have a part of the picture.
But not the whole.
(So don't get angry at lab staff when they can't give you results

We would get in serious trouble for that and we do it to protect you)
