What's not being discussed is the impact on people who are already in debt. There are people out there still affected by the crash in 07/08. Some have managed to get back on their feet again. CV19 is another set back and will push them further into debt.

re: mortgages. It's quite clear from looking at the policy of lenders offering holidays that people in debt aren't guaranteed assistance.

Renters, out of everyone, will be worse off. LL's can take mortgage holidays and repay their arrears over the term of their mortgage. Renters could be asked to repay debt over shorter period of time. It's a nightmare.
