#WhatCouldBe #AnOppositionSpeech

My dear fellow citizens,

You must have heard our Hon PM speak today and announce the extension of lockdown. As the leader of opposition, I stand with the government in all steps it takes to deal with the covid-19 crisis. 1/n
But going through tough times does not mean we stop our dreams for a better future.

We cannot let this government make each one of us feel as if everything is lost and that we should be thankful to the govt for just being alive and may be getting food. 2/n
It is not acceptable that despite 21 days of lockdown, government has not come up with a plan, an economic package, to help and give hope to our already bleeding economy. 3/n
Job losses are becoming a stark reality and I am aware that many citizens have lost and many are living in the fear of losing their hard-earned job. Not knowing what next.

And then we have millions of youngsters joining the workforce every day in hope of a better life. 4/n
At such a time, the rhetoric exhortation from Prime Minister that rather than celebrating him, we should all be taking care of 10 more families is a rather despicable and cruel joke on the already anxious population. 5/n
Of course, we will all take care of each other. But the poor & vulnerable have a right to dignified life. They shouldn’t have to depend on the charity of others when there is an elected government in place. I demand that the Prime Minister take immediate steps in this regard. 6/n
