Thread - PRIEST KING

The sculpture was found from remains of Mohenjo-Daro during an excavation of sites in 1927. Though there is no evidence that priests or monarchs ruled the Mohenjo-Daro, archaeologists dubbed this dignified figure as "Priest King" (1/4) @LostTemple7
Fillet hairband with circular inlay ornament on forehead & similar such ornament on right upper arm. The two ends of fillet fall along the back & though the hair is carefully combed towards the back of the head. The sculpture stands 17.5 centimetres (6.9 inches) tall. (2/4)
Two holes beneath the highly styled ears suggests that the necklace or other ornament attached to the statue. The left shoulder is covered with a cloak decorated with trefoil, double circle designs that were originally filled with red pigment. (3/4)
Eyes are deeply incised & may have held inlay. The upper lip is shaved & the short combed beared framed the face. The idol of priest king is of deity & was thought to be used for religious purpose . (4/4)
