Theologia crucis or the *theology of the cross*, to me one of the most important theological observations ever made; it was made by Martin Luther contra what he called a *theology of glory*. The theology of the cross informs my who theological posture as a Christian 1/
I first was introduced to it by the Apostle Paul, in his writings, and also in the Dominical teachings of Jesus in the Gospels. It's the theology that says we know God only when we die with God in Jesus Christ on the cross; and the raise anew with Him in re-creation. 2/
This theology [of the cross] is the wisdom of God because it is where God knew He must go if He were to truly be God with us and for us. To enter into are jacked up status, elect it for Himself, put it do death, and elevate us to where He is in resurrection. 3/
In this world, it is the theology that keeps on giving. It has the capacity to meet us where we are every second of every day of our lives; in the midst of brokenness, suffering, and sin. This is where the face of God is revealed for us, and in it He says Yes to us. 4/
As the Apostle Paul writes: "we are constantly being given over to the death of Christ that His life might be made manifest in our mortal bodies." The world, the flesh, and the devil would like to destroy us. The cross of Christ says: go ahead! 5/
We die, and then are raised anew in Jesus Christ. Go ahead world, take your best damn shot! Spit on me, kick me, beat me, drown me, kill me. I'm in the One who holds the power of death and life in His hands. And He has freely chosen that I, that we, live eternally in Him. 6/6
