Pregnancy is one of the hardest things a woman can go through, especially black women with our rates of death via childbirth.

In order for me to put myself through that, there has to be some major commitment (marriage) on his part before I even consider it.

I’m putting myself at risk, facing potential death, and you won’t even legally and publicly commit to me and our future child before I do so?

If someone was to come to me, with similar terms in a contract, I’d tell them not to sign it, because it sounds like a bad deal.

Marriages can go left. Happens everyday.

But you are FAR more protected when it ends, if you’re in one. ESPECIALLY if you have a child. Marriage is as much Disney as it is a legal contract which entitles you to rights & remedies.
