Today’s weekly deaths release shows there were 16,387 deaths registered in week ending 3rd April in England and Wales – more than any week since we began compiling weekly figures in 2005.
21% of all deaths mentioned COVID-19 on the death registration. In London this was 46.6%
90% of COVID-19 deaths in week ending 3rd April occurred in hospital setting
The total number of deaths which occurred up to 3 April but were registered up to 11 April involving COVID-19 in England and Wales was 6,235.
•For deaths that occurred up to 3 April, there were 5,979 deaths in England registered by 11 April involving COVID-19 compared with 5,186 deaths reported by NHS England up to 12 April in their latest reconciled figures
