The start of a new working week @ParkinsonsUK. But it’s not a normal week for our great team as yesterday was day 1 of an initial 6-week furlough period for over 100 staff. 1/
Where workloads have temporarily been reduced, we’ve used the government job retention scheme. Not an easy decision, but ultimately the right one for us and the community. 2/
It’s a way we can take control and help close the gap between our current income and our outgoings. These are unusual times but we’re protecting the future of the charity. /3
I’m proud of how our staff have stepped up - or stepped back - to meet the changing demands of their role. After this, when we’re all together, everyone will be as focused & motivated as ever. Maybe more. /4
For now, our resources are focused on helping the community, right when they need us most. That means our increased helpline, local advisers and new online community spaces. /5
By furloughing staff now, we’re making sure that when these times are over, we’re still in a position to be able to continue giving this vital support. /6
Our ambitious plans for the next 5 years haven't changed, and together, we can achieve them. /7
This was one way we could help ourselves. But we can’t do it alone. If you can, please support our appeal so that we can Get Through This - Together. https://www.parkinsons.org.uk/donate  /8
