So. I made a difficult decision tonight. I banned somebody who's been viewing my stream for 4 months or so now. A regular viewer.
It's been a few months of this person coming into my chat and making fun of me in a not-so good-natured fashion. I've always been a bit sensitive about being made fun of. Comes from being made fun of a lot when I was younger.
Worse than that, this particular individual would consistently tell me to play copyrighted music on stream, would tell me what games to play, complain in chat... Was generally not a positive presence and flooded chat with negative vibes.
Tonight pushed me over the edge. We're playing The Outer Worlds. Good game. One of my favorite characters, Parvati, is asexual. She makes this very clear in game. One of the questlines involves her talking about how she's afraid nobody will love her because of this.
The viewer on my stream decided that would be a good time to say "wow she's fucking hot" and announced he was looking at Rule 34 of this character. Who is asexual. After we went through a questline about her insecurities on the subject.
That on top of countless lies, trolling and generally obnoxious behavior pushed me off the edge. So I blocked this person and banned them.
So #SmallStreamerCommunity, what do you think of this thread? Did I do the right thing? I'm standing by my decision. I'd rather have 0 viewers than 1 viewer who makes streaming a negative activity. Blocking is a big deal for me. :(
