If you've lived under any form of colonialism, the idea of a freedom for people is intoxicating. Sibonelo with whom I come from tertiary, will attest to that.
I remember the first time I told my friends that something was amiss was in 1997, leading to the Mafikeng conference.
I was called all sorts of names such a sellout and that BC, Azapo and PAC did nothing to liberate South Africa.
Many more people started seeing through the ANC but were subjected to the same treatment and most kept quiet because it was career threatening.
As more people started being restless, the ANC started using economic opportunities to threaten the middle class and social support such as grants and RDP houses to hold the poor to ransom.
People were so scared that despite the formation of COPE and the EFF, they remained...
