last year when we moved, I lost access to my already old workstation, and have been stuck on a very small laptop in my living room since. It was intended as a very temporary solution- (contd) (paypal available on DMs) #TransCrowdFund
as a result, I haven& #39;t been able to make progress on 3D projects, have had to record in a closet, and my productivity has hit some pretty hard walls in terms of windows I can juggle as I take on more work. It also hasn& #39;t been great for my posture being hunched over the laptop!
while I can play some indie games, it& #39;s certainly thrown a wrench in my ability to play stuff too intensive for this PC, especially to relax or start streaming. The site& #39;s workload is increasing to a point where I need a much better setup to do the work we want to do (contd)
ontop of this, I& #39;m running out of storage non-stop! even the podcast has taken up a lot of resources. With the site& #39;s growth and the help of our generous patrons, we& #39;ve managed to *usually* break even to keep the lights on, which we& #39;re very grateful for!
at this rate, I cannot keep up with the workload I have *and* continue to take on more paid work needed to save up for a new setup, as I& #39;m already working more than full-time hours on the site & multiple paid commitments. freelancing is precarious!
we have some really exciting plans this year with @rebind_io both in terms of in-house content and growing our capacity to review / interview games and folks! so this is only possible with your generous support, please feel free to share the above tweets and promote this effort!
In particular, I want to start livestreaming analysis, recording narration of our existing articles, doing podcast interviews live, and committing to a 3-day a week streaming schedule, as well as expanding into video essays to expand our audience.
reviewing VR content was also supposed to be a big part of the original site, but we haven& #39;t had the means for a while to keep doing that. having equipment that can handle this means we can start looking at some of the exciting indie VR games coming out.
