(1/?)Well I’ve had an adventurous night. My next door neighbor starts banging on my front door while I’m hanging out in my living room vibing with some candles- he’s COVERED IN BLOOD.
(2) He’s 83, he’s got severe dementia, and he’s an alcoholic. He fell and cracked his head open on something- blood in his eyes, his hair, all over his shirt. Wandered out of his house and all the way over to mine at like 11:30 at night. So I sit him down on my sofa.
(3) he’s pressing a towel on his head and I go outside to wait for the ambulance while my mom calls 911. But he’s giving different stories about what happened. Like his wife hit him, his brother in law hit him, some random person jumped him, he tripped and fell down.
(4) None of what this man’s saying is making any sense (see dementia). Meanwhile the cops and paramedics are here. I’ve got 6 cops in my yard looking for a blood trail with their flashlights.
(5) my grandma finally hears the commotion and wakes up to try and help. I practically shove her back in her bedroom. There’s already 7 people in my living room. The cops might have to arrest themselves for disobeying gathering rules if this keeps up.
(6) Out of the 6 different stories he’s given, most have a common theme of him being hit somebody. That’s assault. Cops took me down as a witness even though nobody thinks he was actually assaulted. Just a confused man with head trauma trying to process what happened
(7) and here’s where things get fun. My town has been dealing with a power outage since 5 am. It’s the middle of the night. Nobody can see shit. I’m calm in a crisis but this lack of visibility was about to make me lose it.
(8) there’s NO lights on anywhere in my neighborhood and somehow this guy walked all the way from his house to mine without a flashlight. I’m impressed that he didn’t get MORE injured on his way over here.
(9) a lot of other crap happened and the whole thing was over in less than an hour. He’s safely at the hospital where he’ll be getting stitches and a brain scan. Part of me is still trying to process everything that just happened because WOW.
