I am gonna give fair warning - mute this thread if you don't want to hear me get sentimental about my wedding. :D
We got married at our friend's house. Because everywhere else what was big enough was out of our budget. They opened their home to us. This is why John and Sue (Valk and Cilarea/Cilouette) are part of our family.
They live in a beautiful home in Novato, so it made it really easy for us to travel up - and where most of our friends didn't have to travel to come to our wedding.
My dress was the second most expensive thing. And I made my own bouquet. It's a paper flower bouquet. All the pages were taken from books that were important to me, my husband, or both of us.
Our ceremony was performed by our friend Aaron and was so short, if you had been late, you would have missed it. Seriously, I think it was a grand total of 3 minutes long.
It was based on @DLMcKiernan 's Elven Rite of Marriage from the Mithgar book Eye of the Hunter. If you've never read it, and you like fantasy novels, you should. It's one of my favorite books ever.
Our "dress code" was - whatever made you comfortable. I personally was wearing flip flops. We had some people super dressy, and some in normal clothes. Everyone was so beautiful, I kept getting weepy.
It was a wonderful afternoon of chatting and visiting with friends, many of whom I hadn't seen in a while since we had moved down to SoCal.
Our cake was cupcakes from my favorite bakery. Sue got us a giant inflatable dragon. Which I definitely hugged a few times.
My child spent at least half the day playing in the "water feature" and making "potions." Our theme was Dungeons and Dragons and let me tell you, did everyone roll 20s on that front.
Did I mention we almost had enough raiders to field a raid? #WeepingAngels Also - our color was "Tardis" Blue, though Ryan had not watched Doctor Who yet. (He watched it this last year!)
And here's my "other" guild. The Rust Devils of Wasteland Weekend. These people are some of the kindest, most creative, most wonderful people I have ever met. And they all helped me survive a desert for 5 days.
Our wedding was low key, casual, and cheap AF. No one made me do anything I didn't want to do. And I think everyone else was able to just have a fun day. Also - our rings are made from meteorite and have "Soulbound" etched inside.
The year between April 2019 and April 2020 has been CHALLENGING to say the least. Ryan was laid off the week before the wedding. And like - well... *gestures at the world* LOOK WHERE IT IS NOW.

But at least once a week since the Stay at Home, I have looked at him and said -
"I am so glad I am here with you. I am so glad you are here with me. I am so grateful to have you in my life. I wouldn't be able to do this without you."

Tonight we waxed poetic about our relationship and we both had similar feelings of "Thank goodness I found you."
And we're also pretty sure we make each other better people. Which is a weird and yet, I feel very important thing. We make each other the best version of ourselves. We are always on each other's side. We always assume the best. We always speak and listen.
I am so grateful to have him, and I am doubly grateful to have him through these challenging times. It's nice to have a partner who embodies the "I got you fam."

I love you @IsAsDesigned and I hope our next years are a bit more boring. But I hope all of them are with you.
Also cause it's fun - here's our guild at BlizzCon!
Thanks for being patient about me gushing about my wedding. :D I try to be not "overly" gushy on Twitter. Even though it would be so accurate and so easy.
Oh, the most expensive thing was the photographer, the third was the AirBNB we stayed in. It only cost like $900 to feed 50 people with alcohol and cake. And most of the meat came from Bud's Custom Meats, and Valk was the grillmaster. :D
Also related - Kirklands Prosecco - is AMAZING. I bought an entire flat of it and only like 5 bottles got drunk at the wedding so I got to DRINK THEM ALL over the next like two months. :D It's $7 a BOTTLE and the 2nd best prosecco, after La Marca. Which is more than 2x the price.
