Can I tell you the exact date and time I became an ARMY? Probably not but it& #39;s definitely some time this week - my days have the habit of just blending together. I do know this though: I discovered @BTS_twt on April 12th with BWL because it was right on the front page of YT.
It was Friday morning before work and I see this video trending. Clicked on it to check it out and I& #39;m met with this blue haired beauty and instantly speechless
I knew absolutely nothing about BTS; didn& #39;t know the song was for the fandom; didn& #39;t know their names. All I saw was pure, natural talent. I was awe-struck. Became even more awe-struck when this adorable person came onto the screen.
Did I know what they were saying as I was going about my morning routine? No, but I knew deep down it was beautiful (I didn& #39;t have subtitles on the first go-around). I was mesmerized.
The dancing, even though it& #39;s toned down compared to other choreography, was fun and brought a smile to my face. They all are having fun and that what I want to see more of. Also wanted to see more of this face:
The aesthetic; the visuals; the music; the lyrics - everything was completely new to me. It was also refreshing to see and it made me happy (and still does)
I could not get the song out of my head that Friday. I found myself humming along to it and "oh my my my"ing at random times during the day.
I spent that Friday night rewatching the MV and started my quest on knowing more about this unique group. Did I know that it was their comeback? Noooooope.
As I went down the Bangtan hole, I was met with so many amazing things. Their achievements at the time; their messages and meanings in songs; their humility and the way they gave back to communities.
I was excited when I learned more about them as the weekend went on; however discovering them helped me on a path to rediscover myself.
Btw, the RAPPING. OHMYGOODNESS THE RAPPING. I was a smidge envious of people who had known BTS longer because woo, I was smitten and couldn& #39;t form words after hearing this part (and seeing this face):
Friday night turned into Saturday morning and I was going through songs and lyrics like crazy. I made plans to go to the mall and pick up Persona. Hobi, what a little ball of sunshine.
Persona ended up being the first physical album I had purchased in years. I felt joy and happiness once I had it in my hands. That CD was instantly played whe I got back into he car and drove home.
It brought a sense of relief and helped me destress. Making dinner? Alexa, play some BTS. Cleaning around the house? I& #39;ll take "BTS music" for 1000 Alex.
I found out they were performing on SNL (which is a huge deal) and I was legitimately stoked for them, even though I had just gotten into their music the day before
I& #39;m seriously grateful for discovering BTS when I did and meeting so many phenomenal people because of them. The way their music brings millions together? That& #39;s something to be proud of. Also, extremely proud of this guy here:
Thank you, BTS, from the bottom of my heart and soul. You& #39;ve helped me work on being a better human being in the last year.
