#BenSolo, #SherlockHolmes, and K-wording Beloved Characters. A thread.
AC Doyle wanted to move beyond Sherlock Holmes by killing him off in "The Final Problem", & #Disney apparently wants to move beyond the #Skywalker family in general and #BenSolo in particular after TROS. 1/

Alas, the public& #39;s reaction to Doyle& #39;s decision, much like reviews for TROS, was rather severe, esp. for The Strand magazine that published Doyle& #39;s stories. "People were so upset that more than twenty thousand of them canceled their subscription to The Strand magazine." 2/
When Doyle (kind of) relented & brought Holmes back for a pre Final Problem story in The Strand (The Hound of the Baskervilles), "The publicās response was phenomenal ... The magazineās circulation rose by thirty thousand overnight." The Disney #BobIger returns to isn& #39;t the same company that thought eliminating #BenSolo & the #Skywalker family made great fiscal sense for future #StarWars merchandising. 4/

Disney sees the continuing popularity of #BenSolo/ #KyloRen. There& #39;s money to be made in continuing his story. I can only hope DLF follows the money and sees #BenSoloLives as a win-win solution for both fans and their bottom line. 5/end
