my opinions on the bh situation/ A low-key mini-thesis on the power of information (a thread):
First, I want to make a disclaimer to anyone who may read this since what I say might be taken out of context easily; I am not trying to sway anyone’s opinion or project any sort of negativity on anyone. These are just my thoughts (and fears) as I see them in my own perspective.
If anybody feels attacked or insulted/offended during any of it, then I apologize. (that’s the end of the disclaimer)
So I want to start off by saying that information is a very powerful tool that can be used to help and assist or damage and destroy. As a society, we know it, but aren’t always as aware of it as we should be
What I mean is that information can be easily twisted, falsified, or fabricated to induce damage on a group or subject and its catalyst can simply be one who had good intentions but jumped to conclusions.
While you can probably guess how I might tie this into the bh situation by completely discrediting every bit of info that has been found and spread by many, that’s not the case and it’s not my objective.
Honestly I’m not sure if the allegations (if they can be called that) on BH are true or not, and as a result, I think it’s best to not jump to a conclusion based on the first few things that I see from any source. I try to use this philosophy throughout life because it’s easy
to be lost in emotions, suspicions, or opinions and use the first things you see as a scapegoat to lash out and justify said thoughts.
Ever since these things have surfaced and this conversation has been introduced, I’ve been thinking of (and fearing) some future scenarios. These scenarios mostly work like this: 1. The situation escalates so that media (specifically Western media) catches on to it 2. Media uses
the situation and the information spread to create traction (this is the scariest part because knowing Western media, most titles of reports, posts, etc.. associated with it would be along the lines of “BTS’ label Bighit under scrutiny” or “Allegations against BTS’ label Bighit
Arise Within the Fandom”) 3. The situation then causes collateral damage to BTS and their image, giving antis and haters a reason to further
spread hate on bighit and bts 4. The situation ends up being false, but those who try to spread the truth are overpowered by those who only wish to spread more false info.
While this may seem like an overreaction, I don’t think it could be that inaccurate. Whether we want to admit it or not, many institutions haven’t been as inviting to BTS and army as they may seem (i.e. the whole radio debacle just last week). All it could take is one big story
and I believe many institutions that acted nice towards bts and army for PR points would turn on their act and spread traction just like this (it’s difficult for media to shy away from any sort of conflict or relevant story, especially among top dogs in their industry like bts).
As a result, I believe that we should look more into any allegations rather than just immediately jump on the things that have been posted. I also think we should try to do it AS OBJECTIVELY AS POSSIBLE.
As I said before, it’s easy to jump to conclusions based on former opinions or suspicions, but those who are truly engaged in it should look into it a whole lot more rather than rely on a few posts one of their followers happened to post or send them without any type of source
to back it up with. We all know that there are always those who will try to take bts down or wait for a weak spot in the fandom to try and break us down, but we as a fandom are near unstoppable when we have undoubtable facts on our side. I believe that with more engagement with
the situation through more people who wish to look at it objectively could lead to the truth being spelled out and accessible for everyone (whether what has been said is true or not).
So in conclusion, I personally want to see a world where we as a collective fandom can show our true appreciation and trust for bts and each other by looking into affairs that worry us rather than inciting conflict within the fandom or challenging the fandom status of others
based on how much they believe your opinion. If you want to find the truth, then it’s best to look for yourself rather than look at what’s been given to you.
For those who have their minds set on believing what they’ve seen to be true, then good for you; just make sure that your hate for bh doesn’t overpower your love bts so much that you end up attempting to take down the company and hurt bts in the process. (End of thread)
