Don't know how many of you know the 20th-century Japanese-American designer Isamu Noguchi, but among many other wonderful accomplishments he made some amazing, functional light sculptures. Neat making-of video here: https://shop.noguchi.org/collections/akari-light-sculptures
Noguchi was a fantastic modernist sculptor and designer, one of my faves. His odd, spare, surreal set designs for some of Martha Graham's most famous dances are wonderful, and just a small part of his output.
If you haven't seen "Night Journey," Graham's severe, powerful, strikingly beautiful Oedipus retelling, you've missed one of the great pieces of 20th century modernist art. This clip is about a third of it.
Noguchi's set design fits the dance perfectly. In a strange and arguably heroic move, he also voluntarily joined one of the internment camps for Japanese-Americans for 7 months in 1942 before skipping out and pissing off the FBI.
Anyway, you can lots of info about Noguchi online. The image searches alone are hours of fun. Start at the official site: https://www.noguchi.org/artworks/collection/
