Let's talk about: THE LION KING(S)
Yup, we are gonna take a look at both the '94 and 2019 versions.
What worked, what didn't, and did the newer version add anything to its predecessor?
What do you guys think?

Well if we talked about both of them individually the thread would be huge so let's focus on just comparing.
First and foremost: in the remake, characters can't emote.
Huge downfall, we humans empathize with human-like characteristics, which made the experience pretty dull

The remake visuals are groundbreaking and jaw-dropping. Seriously, beautiful VFX. Which would be great for a documentary but for singing animals?
The animals can't swing from vines, make animal towers, grab their noses. It looks amazing, but what are you sacrificing?

When they took the story to broadway, they didn't intend to make a shot by shot remake. They took the core of the story and created something different and amazing.
In this case, the remake looks great, but its already being forgotten, unlike the timeless 1994 classic.

So in conclusion:
Story? Great
Music? Beautiful
Characters? Impeccably written...just as in 1994.
If you want photorealism, watch the remake, if you want to see a love letter to film and animation, stick to the original.
