I’m a natural disaster survivor. I lost EVERYTHING when a tropical storm hit & flooded my home. If someone came up to my family with a camera recording offering to help, I’d feel like we were used as a charity case for attention & likes.

How do I know? Ppl actually did this.
Imagine the f*cking audacity people have to approach a family that was devastated and just lost everything when they nearly lost their lives.

Do you know what that’s like? People used us victims for the betterment of themselves. “Saving lives” is just a selfish claim for likes.
I’m not saying all people are like this. If you’re well-versed in this situation, then you know this. I’m absoluately disheartened and disgusted.

Do better.
I am beside myself. And if you are going to argue with me, know I’m a survivor and I KNOW more about this than you. Period. Not sorry. I’m just standing up for survivors who’ve been used as a pawn for someone’s “I did something amazing” trophy.
Some of y’all are belittling our experiences. Seeing people’s opinions on some thing they have no experience in has brought so many flooding unwanted memories back.

I honestly can’t right now.
Sorry for my harsh language but if you were me - after years and years of fear when hearing pouring rain, repetitive nightmares, unwanted memories floating though my head. My concerns and thoughts are valid!
Here’s an example: when people helped us clean up, there was so much that was salvageable (wasn’t much... but) that was stolen/ “missing.”
