Thread on Jacob Eason
Jacob Eason has the strongest arm in this 2020 draft class.
Eason has the velocity to fit throws into tight windows like this. Absolute cannon.
Eason has really nice deep ball accuracy.
Especially on these play action passes down the field, gets a really nice trajectory to his receiver.
Eason has also shown the ability to make nice touch, back shoulder throws.
Perfect placement over the shoulder of his receiver.
There seems to be a misconception that Jacob Eason is a statue in the pocket that isn't capable of extending the play.

This is not true.
He's not Lamar Jackson, but Eason can move well enough to buy himself more time under pressure.

Dime to the corner while rolling to his left.
4th & 2 with pressure all around him. Eason somehow escapes Bradlee Anae off the edge and fires a nice pass for the first down while getting hit.
Eason loves this spin to the left.
The issue with Eason is that he is just a tad slow processing through his reads.

Notice how he hesitates for a split second once he gets into his throwing stance. He is still able to fit the throw in due to his tremendous arm strength, but that may not be the case in the NFL.
Again, Eason is a tad late. He hesitates once he gets into his stance, but this time he is intercepted.
Eason has shown some ability to work quickly throw his progression, but this is an area that he needs to improve. Often takes too many sacks holding onto the ball for too long.
Another area that Eason needs to improve on is understanding when to employ different types of throws, whether it be with touch or zip. He doesn't have to rocket launcher every single throw.
For example, there is no need to bullet this ball so hard on a 5 yard hitch. His receivers dropped a lot of balls this season, but he is partly to blame.
Eason had a couple of questionable throws where he stared down his receiver that lead to interceptions.
Nice ball placement on this throw to lead his receiver into yards after the catch.
Jacob Eason is not for everybody, but in the right system and with some time to develop, I can see him developing into a plus starter.
