reading chinese marxists is shattering a lot of my paternalistic western notions about chinese politics honestly. seeing well-respected, well-connected chinese marxists speak so frankly about issues we in the west pretend they'd be KILLED for talking about is... magnificent
i honestly and truly, through all of this, assumed the contradiction between urban and rural people and the stratification of wealth in contemporary china were issues that went unacknowledged; but rather they seem to be core topics of contention and debate
i assumed they did not uphold socialist economic laws as having validity. i assumed they operated under the capitalist laws of economics entirely. i can hardly believe they openly talk about how the two systems interplay and contradict!
if i would have known this thread would get so many likes i probably wouldnt have worded it like such a dork! left twitter, always embarrassing me
