I'm crying buckets when I need to. Me a Zen priest + climate scientist + meditation teacher. Accessing deep stillness is possible even now. But who said accessing stillness & crying buckets are incompatible? Releasing body's trauma makes it easier to access the abiding calm...1/

I'm crying buckets when I need to. I'm not hopeless. One can cry and still be actively and creatively working towards solutions. Grieving is not incompatible with hope or strategic activism. 2/

I want to know who else is weeping or crying? I understand the need to appear tough and calm in front of children or elderly parents. So who is crying in bathrooms? Under blankets. 3/
Yes, we gotta leave aside your urge to look nice. No one looks "good" when tears are welling up or nose and mouth are dripping. Do you have the courage to be vulnerable?

Let us leave aside that facade of being strong. You are not dead. We are alive because we feel. Are you alive? Let me know.

Yes, I'm crying buckets. I have not fully recovered from my sickness & I'm supporting many friends deal with their covid-19 symptoms because most doctors have very few answers that are helpful or satisfying. I'm more anxious for my friends than I have been scared for myself. 6/
F*** this administration. I said it. I used the four letter word. I can't remember times when I have used it publicly. United states has less than 5% of world population and 20% of deaths because of covid-19. If this fact doesn't help defeat the current president, what will? 7/
-- I'm grieving the news of doctors and nurses dying.
-- I'm sad that mainstream media not giving people tools to manage anxiety.
-- I'm sad that black and brown people are disproportionately getting sick and dying.

Perhaps five steps I list here might help someone. Maybe not. In the end, don't listen to experts (incl me) but do consider this invitation to cry. How can anyone who is alive at this time not be terribly stressed out? 11/ http://boundlessinmotion.org/from-anxiety-to-safety-grief-love/
Tears were probably made for these times. Let us use them.
You and I were made for these times. Let us free ourselves up from our anxieties and then act as clearly and courageously as we possibly can. 12/12
