Let me make this very clear:

The false negative #covid19 results is not the governments or the @HSELive's fault.

Indeterminate results are common. Especially when we have limited data on a brand new virus and labs are being pushed to the limit.
It is not a scandal it is the nature of medical science.
Every patient is different each patient responds to an infection differently.

These results happen.
And we are learning amazingly fast.
We found the problem we acknowledged it and we will learn.
This is how testing works.
Reference ranges change over time to reflect the "normal" of the population.

We get better at detecting the analyte and are better able to assess clinical significance
It's scary and for many it sounds like a nightmare

I assure you that we as a field won't stop until we get this to the best that we can.
But there are limits.
Which is why we check we have quality controls and standards of procedure
