A career that I would have loved to pursue in an alternative universe would be a music video director or MV set designer, my favorite part of the pop music industry is the music videos. One of my fav set of MV directors and designers are the ones that work with APink
So here is a thread of all my favorite shots from their last 3 music videos, because honestly they’re a work of art and I want this thread as reference
“I’m so Sick” 2018. Pt 1. Uses primary colors with b&w accents, emphasis on dichotomy between light and dark
“I’m so sick” 2018. Pt 2. Use of shadows, perspective, and angels really helps tell the story
“I’m so sick” 2018. Pt 3 colored light and contrast helps to separate the scenes and characters but still appears to be in the same world
“%%” 2019. Pt 1. Very minimalist shots for half the MV, but heavy emphasis on color vibrancy, multidimensional appearance, and symmetry
“%%” 2019. Pt 2. Some very crowded and intricate shots for the other half of the MV. A lot of medium and full shots, also used a letterbox throughout the whole MV? I guess they wanted to keep the viewer distant
“Dumhdurum” 2020. Pt 1. This inspired the thread because it was actually insane. A lot of these ideas aren’t new, but it was so well done. First the suitcase and traveling = moving on from a breakup theme I loved it. The use of color in these sets was immaculate
“Dumhdurum” 2020. Pt 2. Each girl had their own set that was sooo beautifully designed and fit their individual aesthetic. Once again perspective and camera angel was key to understanding what the metaphors behind the sets were
“Dumhdurum” 2020. Pt 3. More individual member sets. I included the bathroom set again because it’s my personal favorite it was simple but pretty
“Dumhdurum” 2020. Pt 4. These minimalistic shots tied together all the colors and were put in the MV at the perfect moments. Near the end when there was chaos everything began to break and it was so awesome. That’s it, end of thread, essentially I want to live in these MVs
