You know what I think about a lot? How I knew early on in law school I didn’t want to practice law. I admitted that to absolutely no one. Had I not be fortunate enough to receive an offer to work for a sports agency, I likely would have pursued law just because I was supposed to.
Law schools need to do a better job making sure students know the many ways you can use a JD outside of becoming an attorney. So many people pursue miserable careers out of embarrassment or fear they wasted their time/money in law school.
It wouldn’t hurt the schools. It would actually help because you can promote pursuing a legal degree for more reasons than the traditional ones.
Don’t get me wrong — I am ABSOLUTELY happy I went to law school and it benefits me daily in my career. I actually loved law school and don’t regret it one bit. I just wish schools were more vocal about those of us who didn’t become attorneys and still are happy + successful.
A JD makes you a better employee almost anywhere and more importantly, a more well-rounded member of society. Law school is simply where you are trained to think a certain way. You can do so many jobs at a high level with a JD.
If anyone is in law school now and feels shame or embarrassment or anxiety about your lack of “fitting in” with your peers or finding your place in the legal world, please DM me.

I was you. You will find your place and you are still where you’re supposed to be.
