1/ I want to assure Port Coquitlam residents that our city is in a strong position to weather this storm. Our focus on core municipal services, prudent decision making and rigorous financial scrutiny serves us well during this time. We are reducing all non-essential spending and
2/ placing a hold on external hiring except for critical positions. Our city has never been dependent on unstable revenue sources and we are confident that we have the resources to meet our obligations and continue to deliver the core services we all depend on.
3/ The city is putting a cash-flow plan in place. In a worst case scenario, Council plans to approve a temporary revenue anticipation borrowing bylaw if required.
4/ The city as a corporation will make it through this, but the heart & soul of a city is its residents & local businesses. We’re focused on making sure they survive and can come back stronger.
