This fundraise from @AlexMasmej was the first on @tryrollhq and opens up a new window into what's possible.

A quick thread on what this means for the space - https://twitter.com/TheBlock__/status/1249806437720743936
1/ Firstly, the value of $ALEX comes from the community he's built in the Ethereum space, and by being an amazing entrepreneur. It is not everyday people can be a part of such a passionate community.
2/ This is a concrete example of one of the core thesis of @Bradley_Miles_ and I with which we started Roll: Community as a digital asset
3/ Some early pioneers in this space including @kmikeym have shown the way, but with Ethereum and web3, all the integrations and self-custody come out of the box. For example, if you want to stream Alex $ALEX for his time, just use @SablierHQ
4/ We see this as a new way to invest in someone's community and be a part of that community with skin in the game.
5/ The web has facilitated lots of weak ties - you can follow anyone on Twitter, and the person with 10k followers that you follow probably doesn't know you. This is a way to build strong ties with the top x% of your community.
6/ This is just the first step - we're excited to experiment and learn more about this over the coming months with others who have built amazing communities.
You can follow @sidkal.
